The 2014 Junior Technical Meeting (JTM) and the Puerto Rico Interdisciplinary Meeting (PRISM) were held at University of Puerto Rico, Cayey Campus.  JTM and PRISM are the Island’s largest annual scientific forum for undergraduate and graduate STEM students to present their research projects to peers and faculty members.

Dr. Ariel E. LugoThe invited plenary speaker was Dr. Ariel E. Lugo, Director of the International Institute of Tropical Forestry, US Department of Agriculture.  Adjunct Professor, Biology department at University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras.

Dr. Lugo offered a conference titled “Los Congresos Científicos – Inspiración, Combate de Ideas y Oportunidad para Explorar el Futuro” capturing the audience in ways not many people do.

The PRISM provides vertical integration of the educational pipeline by bringing together secondary school students and teachers, undergraduate and graduate students from all STEM disciplines from all major institutions of higher education in Puerto Rico.  Participants are encouraged to cross disciplinary lines by attending presentations and posters from other disciplines.
